AWARD AMOUNT:

$299,999*

PURPOSE: The Lawrence Drug Court will use grant funds to provide additional client services such as emergency housing and transportation, a re-entry component, and to continue program operations. Nonviolent, adult criminal offenders who are arrested and have a substance abuse history are targeted. The program will serve 150 clients over a 2-year period. Clients are expected to participate in the program for a minimum of 12 to18 months. The drug court will provide intensive judicial supervision, treatment, mandatory drug testing, graduated sanctions, aftercare, and other rehabilitative services. Additionally, a management information system will be utilized to monitor client progress and to conduct process and outcome evaluations. The Lawrence Drug Court will provide collateral services such as mentoring, childcare, mental and primary health care, vocational training, employment, and educational resources.
