FY 2002 DRUG COURT GRANT PROGRAM

AWARD AMOUNT:

$489,393*

PURPOSE: Henrico County will use grant funds to implement an adult drug court, which will target nonviolent, substance-abusing adult offenders. The primary goals of the program are to reduce crime and provide comprehensive treatment to substance-abusing offenders. The program will serve 250 clients over a 2-year period. Clients will be expected to participate in the program for a minimum of 12 to 18 months. The drug court will provide intensive judicial supervision, treatment, mandatory drug testing, graduated sanctions, aftercare, and other rehabilitative services. Additionally, a management information system will be utilized to monitor client progress and to conduct process and outcome evaluations. The program will provide collateral services such as mentoring, housing, mental and primary health care, employment, and educational services. The Henrico County Drug Court will coordinate its efforts with the following agencies: Henrico Social Services, the Salvation Army, Goodwill, Adult Care Services, American Heart Association, the Community Services Board, and Henrico Area Mental Health and Retardation Services.
