FY 2002 DRUG COURT GRANT PROGRAM

Adult Implementation Grant Award

Tennessee

AWARD RECIPIENT:

Twenty-Second Judicial District, Lawrence County
Lawrenceburg, TN

AWARD AMOUNT:

$500,000*

PURPOSE: The Twenty-Second Judicial District will use grant funds to implement a drug court to serve nonviolent, substance-abusing, male and female adult offenders. Misdemeanor and felony offenders will be eligible to participate in the program. The drug court will serve approximately 225 clients in a 12 to 24 month post-adjudication program over a 3-year period. The program will establish a continuum of care that will include substance abuse treatment, case management, job training, job placement, mandatory drug testing, graduated sanctions and incentives, and housing assistance. The goals of the project are to reduce recidivism, substance abuse, and drug-related crime among the drug court target population, while increasing community coordination and collaboration. The drug court will establish a monitoring and evaluation plan to demonstrate the effectiveness of the program. The Twenty-Second Judicial District will coordinate with state and local organizations such as the Centerstone Community Mental Health Clinic, Department of Human Services, the Health Department, the Elks Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.
