Adult Enhancement Grant Award

New York

AWARD RECIPIENT:

New York State Unified Court System - Niagara County
Lockport, NY

AWARD AMOUNT:

$166,424*

PURPOSE: The Lockport Drug Treatment Court will use grant funds to enhance an adult drug court in a rural jurisdiction. The court will serve first-time felony nonviolent, substance-abusing adult offenders. The program will last approximately 12 months, and it will operate based on a post-adjudication and deferred prosecution model. The enhancement will provide funding to continue program operations and attendance at trainings. The goals of the program are to provide early intervention consisting of treatment, education, intensive case management, and intensive judicial supervision. The court has established relationships with various local substance abuse treatment providers, the judge, District Attorney's Office, Defense Bar, Public Defender, and police department. The court will utilize the NYS Universal Treatment Application, which allows the court to maintain a uniform database throughout the state, while allowing flexibility to suit the needs of the local court.
