Attorney General Calls on County Officials to Join DOJ in Working to Improve Juvenile Justice and Indigent Defense Systems
Attorney General Eric Holder outlined the need to reform the nation's juvenile justice system, as well as to ensure that quality legal representation is available, affordable and accessible to all Americans. In his remarks, he asked those attending the National Association of Counties Legislative Conference on Monday, March 7, to work with him and the Department's Office of Justice Programs to address these priorities. The Department of Justice today announced that Michigan, Nevada, Wyoming, and the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians in Michigan have substantially implemented the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), Title I of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006.

The number of cases in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons Systems (NamUs) two databases has reached a combined total of more than 15,000 and the number of registered users has grown to 10,000 since NamUs was launched in January 2009.
