Neighborhood Revitalization
Crime, unemployment, struggling schools, and physical and mental health issues plague the residents of our nation’s distressed neighborhoods and compound the negative outcomes of growing up in poverty. The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) is partnering with other federal agencies in the Neighborhood Revitalization Working Group to address this national problem and help transform neighborhoods of concentrated poverty into neighborhoods of opportunity.
The Neighborhood Revitalization Working Group, led by the Departments of Housing and Urban Development, Education, Justice, Health and Human Services, and the Treasury, is coordinating several key programs in this area, including OJP’s Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation.
