Research and Evaluation Priorities

NIJ's work has expanded knowledge of all aspects of sexual violence prevention and response and identified several strategic research priorities. These priorities include:

Supporting research about—

  • The nature, incidence, and prevalence of sexual assault.
  • Intra-family sexual assault.
  • Sexual violence within diverse communities.
  • The nature, incidence, and prevalence of drug-facilitated sexual assault.

Evaluating—

  • Sexual assault prevention programs.
  • Public policies that focus on sexual offenders.
  • System responses to sexual violence.
  • Use of technology and forensic science to respond to sexual violence.
