Please respond to the following questions
additional 8x11 sheets may be attached if necessary
1. DESCRIBE THE IMPACT THAT VOCA FUNDS HAVE HAD ON YOUR PROGRAM'S ABILITY TO MEET THE NEEDS OF CRIME VICTIMS. Section IV Other - medical supplies (wheel chairs, bandages, etc.), temporary lodging, ans allowable fees icurred by the victim as a direct result of the crime. As a matter of policy, Virginia's compensation program does not pay for items not allowed by VOCA. ===== The availability of VOCA funds gave Virginia's legislature the confidence to expand financial resources available to crime victims in the Commonwealth. During last year's legislative session, the largest legislative package since the inception of the compensation program was introduced. In order to assist victims: wage loss maximums were increased from $200-00 to $600.00 per week, funeral benefits were extended to good Samaritans who assume responsibility for funeral expenses of homicide victims, moving expenses were increased from $500.00 to $1000.00, lost wages were made available to parents of minor child victims for income lost while caring for their child, and benefits were extended to Virginia residents who are victimized in a country or territory without a compensation program. Through an administrative change, the Fund is also awarding temporary loss of support to victims of domestic violence or child sexual assault when the offender is removed from the residence. In order for payment to be made there must be a pending criminal charge in addition to a protective order or evidence that the perpetrator is incarcerated. None of the above changes and increases in compensation would be possible without the availability of VOCA funding.

2. HOW DO YOU MEASURE YOUR PROGRAM'S EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS IN REDUCING THE FINANCIAL IMPACTH OF CRIME ON VICTIMS? WHAT ARE THE RESULTS? The Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund (CICF), measures processing time on each claim. The measure is an average of all claims and is obtained through an automated function built into the database. Last year the average claim processing time was 43.6 days.

3. DID YOUR STATE USE VOCA ADMINSTRATIVE FUNDS? NO IF YOUR STATE USED VOCA ADMINSTRATIVE FUNDS, PLEASE DESCRIBE THE IMPACT THESE FUNDS HAVE HAD ON YOUR STATE'S ABILITY TO PROVIDE COMPENSATION OR IMPROVE VICTIM SERVICES. No.
