Digital Forensics: An Overview for the Laboratory Manager

This webinar will provide an overview of the field of digital forensics for the laboratory administrator. This is part of the ASCLD Train the Director Webinar Series.

Digital forensics continues to grow as an important element in many investigations. For this reason laboratory managers, both with and without digital forensics units, must have a basic understanding of this complex discipline and how it may play a role in other laboratory analysis. This course will discuss the practical application of digital forensics, the use of innovative practices to streamline analysis, taking a case with digital evidence from crime scene to courtroom, and challenges unique to this important discipline.

Detailed Learning Objectives:
1. Provide an overview of digital forensics and discuss the use of innovative strategies to provide efficient and effective analysis.
2. Provide an understanding of challenges that a laboratory manager may face interacting or administering a digital forensics division.
3. Develop a framework for managing digital evidence from the crime scene through litigation.
