Abstract
Decisions encompass 12 major areas of procedural case law: searches and seizures of persons and things, self-incrimination and confessions, suspect identification, screening and charging processes, bail and pretrial release, discovery, guilty pleas, trials and trial-related rights, sentencing, double jeopardy, and postconviction challenges. Particular attention is given to statutory changes made in Federal criminal law and procedure by the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 and the Fine Enforcement Act of 1984. Additional materials include excerpts from the Constitution, the current version (effective November 1986) of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, habeus corpus and Section 2255 rules and forms, and selected Federal statutes covering such issues as bail reform, the insanity defense, sentencing reform, crime victims, and witness security.
