Abstract
The first part defines acquaintance rape and discusses the importance of acquaintance rape education. It then examines the role of sex role socialization in forced-sex situations and patterns associated with acquaintance rape along with contributing factors such as self esteem of victim, locus of control, parent's role, the development of self esteem in adolescents, and the emotional consequences of acquaintance rape. Recommendations regarding sexual assault and acquaintance rape are presented for college policies and procedures. The acquaintance rape prevention manual is contained in the second part and covers training instructions, media resources, and a chinese menu approach to rape prevention. Other resources such as related articles, sexual assertiveness dramatization, and a party scenario are appended. The third part includes selected articles on date rape and adolescent attitudes about rape, and the fourth part is a bibliographic listing of rape and sexual assault books and monographs as well as scholarly articles and papers.
