Information compiled in this directory was obtained from a mail survey and followup telephone surveys of juvenile justice and correctional training personnel in the United States and Canada.
Abstract
The initial survey instrument was developed by Eastern Kentucky University's Training Resource Center and was reviewed by representatives of the American Association of Correctional Training Personnel, the Juvenile Justice Trainers Association, the National Juvenile Detention Association, and the National Academy of Corrections. Data obtained from June 1991 through March 1992 reflect individuals associated with training programs of juvenile justice and correctional agencies. Training programs focus on adult services, adult pardons and parole, juvenile services, juvenile detention, and jails. An overview of management, funding, personnel, and other issues facing juvenile justice and correctional trainers in the United States is presented, along with an alphabetical listing of contacts identified in the directory. Tabular data are provided on employees in juvenile and adult correctional agencies, staff/training ratios, funding for training programs, training expenditures, training personnel salaries, and training requirements.
