This document represents the first annual report to cover a full year of the Queensland Criminal Justice Commission's activities.
Abstract
The Commission's expenditure of $17 million for the year is a significant investment by the State of Queensland. The annual report examines the establishment, membership, aims, functions, and organizational structure of the commission. Consideration is also given to accountability issues, research and coordination activities, the Commission's Office of General Counsel, misconduct tribunals, the Commissioner for Police Service Reviews, hearings, reports, litigation, external liaison, legal change, and public education. Four Commission divisions are described: Official Misconduct Division, Intelligence Division, Witness Protection Division, and Corporate Services Division. Fifteen appendixes provide detailed information on the Commission's functions and responsibilities, organizational structure, complaint handling, misconduct tribunals, media statements, consultant/contract services, publications, external committees, and finances. Photographs and graphs
