The leader of COYOTE, a prostitute's organization meeting in Washington, D.C. during the making of this film, favors decriminalization of prostitution nationwide.
Abstract
The convention attracted prostitutes and feminists from across the country, as well as others who came out of curiosity or conviction. Most participants favored decriminalization over legalization, which as it exists in Nevada, calls for excessive government control and regulation. Prostitutes should have independent control over their own bodies. As it stands now, the cost of arresting and incarcerating prostitutes is too high a price for the public to pay. Black women, in particular, are singled out for greater enforcement and punishment.
