This document presents the questionnaires and instructions used in a survey of law enforcement agencies regarding the civil disorders that occurred in their jurisdictions in the last year, and a survey of activist and advocacy organizations.
Abstract
Both studies were funded by the National Institute of Justice. The police agency survey was mailed to more than 1,500 law enforcement agencies. It gathered information about the riots, strikes, and demonstrations that occurred in the jurisdiction; the personal injury and property damage that resulted; and police procedures for handling the disorder. The organization questionnaire gathered information about the organization's scope of activity, relationship with other organizations, membership, budget, funding sources, and activities.
