This research used on-line, post-column photolytic derivatization to improve oxidative electrochemical detection in high-performance liquid chromatography. This technique was also applied to the analysis of explosives and drugs.
Abstract
The hybrid technique developed greatly improved the applicability of oxidative electrochemical detection in that it enabled sensitive and selective detection for a number of classes of compounds that exhibited little or no inherent oxidative responsiveness. Experiments were performed to characterize and minimize the band-broadening contributions of the reactor used in the construction of the photolytic derivation apparatus for improved electrochemical detection. Several knitted open tubular post column reactors were also constructed.
