This report presents the proceedings and content of the April 8-12, 1991 Study Conference of the European Network for Policewomen held in Zutphen, The Netherlands.
Abstract
In addition to inviting policewomen from each European country, representatives attended from Iceland, Sweden, and Norway. Country representatives presented reports on police organization and policies in their Nations, with attention to how these have affected policewomen and prospective policewomen. Reports are presented from Belgium; England, Wales, and Scotland; France; Germany; Greece; Iceland; Ireland; Italy, Luxembourg; Norway; Sweden; and The Netherlands. During the conference participants had numerous sessions in small groups, in which they discussed issues and then provided feedback to the entire conference. One conference aim was to share information and experiences concerning the position of policewomen in the various European countries, so as to identify similarities and differences. Other aims were to inventory needs, provide support, identify how needs can be met in the context of the work of the European Network for Policewomen (ENP), generate ideas about ENP policy and structure, identify future financial sources, and discuss the program of the European Conference for Policewomen for 1992. Appended list of participant addresses and ENP bylaws
