During 1990, the FBI recorded a total of seven terrorist incidents in the United States and one attempted terrorist incident; five terrorist attacks were prevented.
Abstract
During the same period, law enforcement agencies were successful in some aspects of combating several major domestic and international terrorist groups including anti- Castro Cuban terrorist groups, the Aryan Nations, the May 19 Communist Organization, Yahweh, the Abu Nidal Organization, the Provisional Irish Republican Army, and Sikh terrorist groups. This report includes a summary of 5-year terrorist statistics, covering the period 1986-1990. The trend analysis displays the same statistics tabulated by group, target, and type of attack. Topical issues in which the FBI has been involved include terrorism associated with the Persian Gulf War, civil aviation, and special events management. The current threat in terms of both domestic and international terrorism is summarized. 3 appendixes
