This document outlines the rules for juvenile boards, probation officers and facilities which were adopted under the authority of Section 141.042 of the Texas Human Resources Code.
Abstract
The probation standards specified address several concerns: establishing a code of ethics for juvenile probation officers and enforcement of the code, local juvenile board administration, juvenile probation services and personnel, juvenile detention services and personnel, local juvenile boards and advisory councils, State administration, waiver of a standard or standards, vehicle exemption, guidelines for informal adjustment fees, complaints against juvenile boards, coordinated services for multiproblem children and youth, and participation in community resource coordination groups. The code of ethics calls for unfailing honesty, respect for the dignity and individuality of human beings, and a commitment to professional and compassionate service on the part of juvenile probation officers in Texas. The county juvenile board serves as the statutory administrative authority and evaluates, monitors, and, when necessary, recommends modification of all functions of juvenile probation services in accordance with commission standards.
