This guide outlines the steps to planning and implementing a campus safety audit.
          Abstract
A safety audit, which is an educational tool as well as an action plan, evaluates the physical environment in terms of safety factors. An audit examines the environment and provides information on how a space is put together and how it enhances or reinforces a sense of safety. Its goal is to improve the physical environment in ways that reduce the opportunities for sexual harassment or sexual assaults, and to make the environment both more comfortable and accessible. Instructions for organizing and implementing the audit include a checklist of factors to consider based on concrete situations that are part of women's lives on campus.
