FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ADVISORY

 

Funds Available for Juvenile Mentoring Program

?and Drug-Free Communities Support Program

 

 

Applications are now being accepted for the following discretionary programs administered by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP):

 

Juvenile Mentoring Program (JUMP)

 

One-time awards of up to $220,000 for a 3-year project and budget period will be made to local education agencies, public agencies, private for-profit or nonprofit organizations, and tribal nations that can demonstrate knowledge of and/or experience with mentoring programs, volunteers, and programming for at-risk youth.?? OJJDP encourages applications from both new mentoring programs and mentoring programs with proven track records that want to expand mentoring activities in accordance with the JUMP goals and objectives.? Grantees or collaborative entities that have received JUMP funds previously are not eligible to compete for funding.? The application deadline is March 25, 2002.

 

Drug-Free Communities Support Program??

 

Approximately 70 grants of up to $100,000 each will be awarded to community coalitions that are working to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth.? Drug-Free Communities is an authorized program of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, administered by OJJDP.? Eligible applicants are community coalitions whose members have worked together on substance abuse reduction initiatives for a period of not less than 6 months. With substantial participation from community volunteer leaders, the coalition will be expected to implement multisector, multistrategy, long-term plans designed to reduce substance abuse among youth.? The application deadline is April 24, 2002.????????????????????
