HEARING OF THE REVIEW PANEL ON PRISON RAPE
WASHINGTON – The Review Panel on Prison Rape will hold a hearing WEDNESDAY AUGUST 27, 2008 AT 9:00 A.M. EDT. The hearing will be based on the Bureau of Justice Statistics’ (BJS) recent report, Sexual Victimization in Local Jails Reported by Inmates, 2007. The purpose of the hearing is to assist BJS in identifying common characteristics of victims and perpetrators of rape in county jails with the highest and lowest incidence of rape. Representatives from the Brevard County Detention Center, an identified facility with a high prevalence of sexual victimization will testify.
