HEARING OF THE REVIEW PANEL ON PRISON RAPE

WASHINGTON –      The Review Panel on Prison Rape will hold a hearing in Washington, D.C. September 10-11, 2008.  The hearings will be based on the Bureau of Justice Statistics’ (BJS) recent report, Sexual Victimization in Local Jails Reported by Inmates, 2007.  The purpose of the hearings is to assist BJS in identifying common characteristics of victims and perpetrators of rape in county jails with the highest and lowest incidence of rape. Representatives from the Northwest Ohio Regional Correctional Center, an identified facility with a low prevalence of sexual victimization, will testify on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2008 AT 9:00 A.M. EDT. Representatives from Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail, a facility determined to have a high prevalence of sexual victimization, will testify on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2008 AT 9:00 A.M. EDT.
