DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE ANNOUNCES BRIEFING ON THE NEW SURVEY FINDINGS OF CHILDREN?S EXPOSURE TO VIOLENCE
WASHINGTON ? The Department of Justice will host the researchers from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the University of New Hampshire in a telephonic discussion about the OJJDP’s Children ’s Exposure to Violence: A Comprehensive National Survey, on Wednesday, October 7, at 1:00 P.M. EDT. Media interested in joining the call and reviewing an advance copy of the bulletin should e-mail a request to [email protected].
The OJJDP survey measured the past-year and life-time exposure to violence for children age 17 and younger. The major categories covered in the survey are: conventional crime, child maltreatment, victimization by peers and siblings, sexual victimization, witnessing and indirect victimization, school violence and threats, and Internet victimization.
