ATTORNEY GENERAL HOLDER TO SPEAK AT
NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING
WASHINGTON - Attorney General Eric Holder will deliver opening remarks at the 2010 National Conference on Human Trafficking on MONDAY, MAY 3, 2010 at 9:00 A.M. EDT. The conference runs from May 3 to May 5, 2010, and participants from the Department of Justice include Associate Attorney General Tom Perrelli; Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Thomas E. Perez; Assistant Attorney General of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) Laurie O. Robinson; Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General of OJP Mary Lou Leary; Acting Director of OJP?s Bureau of Justice Assistance James H. Burch II; and Acting Director of the OJP?s Office for Victims of Crime Joye E. Frost.
The theme of the conference, "The Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) Decade: Progress and Promise," brings attention to the progress made in the 10 years since Congress passed the TVPA and the work yet to be done. The conference will bring together various state and local task forces on human trafficking, key policymakers, stakeholders and victims service providers in order to explore innovative ways to forge alliances, build and strengthen partnerships, and collaborate to improve the fight against human trafficking.
