New Web Sites Focus on Data-Driven Programs?OJP?s Bureau of Justice Assistance, in collaboration with CNA and local law enforcement agencies in 10 cities, has launched a Web site devoted to innovative and evidence-based law enforcement resources as part of the Smart Policing Initiative (SPI). The 10 localities are: Boston, Mass.; Glendale, Ariz.; Lansing, Mich.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Memphis, Tenn.; Palm Beach, Fla.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Reno, Nev.; Savannah, Ga.; and Winston-Salem, N.C. Law enforcement agencies in these areas are working with the research partner of their choice to collect and analyze data and devise or modify solutions to street robberies, juvenile prescription drug abuse, repeat violent offenders, and neighborhood drug markets. The results of their efforts will be evaluated and published for review by other agencies confronted with similar issues. http://www.smartpolicinginitiative.com/

BJA also is participating with the Council of State Governments Justice Center and the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) in supporting the Justice Center?s Reentry Programs Database, which is designed to catalogue adult and juvenile reentry programs nationwide. The database will highlight self-reported innovative programs that implement promising reentry practices and policies.
