OJP's Assistant Attorney General Laurie O. Robinson Announces More Than $22.4 Million In Fiscal Year 2010 Funding For Adult Drug Courts?"We know that drug courts are central to reducing drug abuse and to keeping communities safe, and that's why I'm pleased that OJP, through its Bureau of Justice Assistance, has awarded 83 grants totaling more than 22.4 million to provide for new adult drug courts and to enhance existing adult drug courts," Assistant Attorney General Robinson said today at the Coalition of State Drug Court Coordinators meeting in Washington, D.C. She also noted, "Our National Institute of Justice recently released preliminary findings from its five-year, multi-site evaluation of adult drug courts. The early analysis shows that after 6 months, and again after 18 months, drug court participants reported less drug-related and criminal activity."

Victimization During Household Burglary Survey Released?An analysis released today by OJP's Bureau of Justice Statistics shows that about 3.7 million households experienced burglaries from 2003 through 2007 and nearly seven percent of these victims encountered some form of violent victimization. The report stated that in 65 percent of the violent household burglaries, the victim knew the offender; in 28 percent of such burglaries, the victim said the offender was a stranger. According to the survey, residents in all of these households were equally likely to be victimized by a current or former intimate partner as they were by a stranger. https://ojp.gov/newsroom/pressreleases/2010/BJS10133.htm
