ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY GENERAL PERRELLI TO CHAIR MEETING OF THE COORDINATING COUNCIL ON JUVENILE JUSTICE AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION

Associate Attorney General Tom Perrelli will chair the quarterly meeting of the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. EDT. The council?s membership includes representatives from 12 federal agencies and nine practitioners.

During the meeting, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu will deliver remarks on reforming the justice system in New Orleans and speak about his vision for helping New Orleans youth. The council will discuss progress on the council?s four priority issues: education and at-risk youth; tribal youth and juvenile justice; juvenile reentry and transition to adulthood; and racial/ethnic disparities in the juvenile justice system and related systems. Reports on other topics include juvenile justice reform and juvenile crime trends.
