BJS Releases Compendium of Tribal Crime Data, 2011 ? The Justice Department?s Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) released Compendium of Tribal Crime Data, 2011, addressing gaps in national-level reporting of tribal crime data. The compendium is part of BJS?s first annual report to Congress mandated by the 2010 Tribal Law and Order Act (TLOA). It summarizes current and planned activities to address tribal crime data gaps and details findings about tribal law enforcement agencies, state court prosecutors? offices with jurisdiction in Indian Country, jails in Indian country, and tribal youth in the federal justice system. http://www.bjs.gov.

The Department of Justice's Office for Victims of Crime and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will host "Stolen Futures: A Forum on Child Identity Theft," on Tuesday, July 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The forum at the FTC Conference facility at 601 New Jersey Avenue N.W., Washington, D.C., is free and open to the public. Representatives of government agencies, businesses, non-profits, legal service providers, and victim advocates will explore the nature of child identity theft, including foster care identity theft and identity theft within families, with the goal of advising parents and victims on how to prevent the crime and how to resolve child identity theft problems.
