OVC Combating ID Theft by Campaigns, Training - "The issue of child identity theft is one that we're only beginning to become aware of and understand. We know a lot about identity theft generally, but we're really only starting to see the extent to which identity thieves target children - and the tremendous damage they can cause," said Mary Lou Leary, OJP's Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General, at "Stolen Futures: A Forum on Child Identity Theft," convened by the Department of Justice's Office for Victims of Crime and the Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday, July 12. NTTAC to Host Webinar on Disproportionate Minority Contact - The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) will host the Webinar, "Disproportionate Minority Contact: Issues and Trends at the National, State, and Local Level" on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m. EST. The Webinar will describe issues state and local communities face when reducing DMC. Representatives from four states will share their experiences and lessons learned in implementing delinquency prevention and systems improvement strategies that address DMC.

The Department of Justice's 2011 National Intertribal Youth Summit, Sunday, July 24, through Thursday, July 28, in Santa Fe, N.M., is open to the media. The Summit is an opportunity for tribal youth participants to meet other American Indian and Alaska Native youth through special sessions targeting leadership development and critical youth issues such as teen dating violence, substance abuse, suicide, delinquency and gang involvement.
