Putting Research into Practice—Laurie O. Robinson, OJP's Assistant Attorney General, spoke on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at a briefing convened by the American Society of Criminology about the need to use research-based policies to prevent and reduce crime. She highlighted the Justice Reinvestment movement, which brings state-level policymakers, legislators, and outside experts together to analyze criminal justice policies and determine ways to make smarter use of limited funds. Her remarks were an excerpt from her recent essay in the February 2011 issue of Criminology and Public Policy's special issue on imprisonment and crime.
