REVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PENNSYLVANIA PAROLE AUTHORITIES WITH EMPHASIS ON THE COOPERATION BETWEEN POLICE AND PAROLE AGENTS.
Abstract
THE INITIAL MATERIAL IN THIS MANUAL PRESENTS THE LEGAL BASIS FOR PAROLE, FOUND IN THE PROBATION AND PAROLE ACT OF 1941, REGULATIONS OF THE PAROLE BOARD, AND THE PHILOSOPHY OF PAROLE. THE FOLLOWING MATERIAL EXAMINES THE LEGAL AND SOCIAL STATUS OF PAROLEES, FEMALE PAROLEES, AND CRITERIA FOR PAROLE SUCCESS OR FAILURE. THE ROLE OF THE PAROLE AGENT, INCLUDING DUTIES, INTERACTION WITH THE POLICE, AND PAROLE CASELOADS ARE DISCUSSED IN THE THIRD SECTION. THE FINAL CHAPTER PERTAINS TO THE POLICE AND PAROLEES. IT CONSIDERS CONDITIONS OF PAROLE, PAROLE VIOLATIONS, POLICE PROCEDURES, AND THE ROLE OF THE STAFF SPECIALIST. INCLUDED ARE DEFINITIONS OF TERMS AND A LIST OF OFFICE LOCATIONS OF THE BOARD OF PROBATION AND PAROLE, AND SAMPLE PAROLE FORMS AND RECORDS.
