How do I locate the Consumer Product Lists for law enforcement and correctional equipment that complies with National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Standards?
The Compliant Products Lists (CPL’s) of equipment tested to National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Standards can be found on the Criminal Justice Testing & Evaluation Consortium (CJTEC) website. There are CPL’s for Ballistic- and Stab-Resistant Body Armor, Combination (Ballistic & Stab-Resistant) Armor, and Autoloading Pistols.
Previously, the NIJ CTP operated a voluntary CTP for metallic handcuffs in accordance with NIJ Standard-0307.01. That program ended in 2016, and the standard’s NIJ list of approved restraints is no longer available. Metallic and nonmetallic wrist and ankle restraints are now tested by the Safety Equipment Institute in accordance with NIJ Standard-1001.00, Revision A (September 2019).
