On April 19, 2023, the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (Council) will convene its first meeting of 2023 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET in Washington, DC. The Council is an independent body within the Federal Government that coordinates federal programs related to youth justice, delinquency, and missing and exploited children.

In commemoration of Second Chance Month, the meeting will examine ways to reduce recidivism through comprehensive and coordinated services to youth exiting the justice system.

Recognizing the critical importance of employment and training to successful reentry, this meeting will be hosted by the U.S. Department of Labor. Speakers include OJJDP Administrator Liz Ryan, who also serves as Vice Chair of the Council, and Brent Parton, Acting Assistant Secretary for Employment and Training.

The meeting is open to the public via online video conference. Registration is required.
