Each April, the county observes National Crime Victims' Rights Week which is an event initiated by the Office for Victims of Crime, a division of the Department of Justice.
The purpose of the event is to promote victims' rights and honor crime victims and those who advocate on their behalf.
The Rev. Dr. Robert Denton Outstanding Service award is given to an individual or a group of individuals who assist victims in the criminal justice, legislative, medical, mental health or social work arenas.
