The research was conducted by performing literature reviews and interviewing experts in the field. The research resulted in RIA reports on the following topics: (1) overview of the American with Disabilities Act and criminal justice, (2) hiring new employees, (3) providing inmate services, (4) emergency response systems and telecommunication devices for the deaf, (5) employment discrimination, (6) mental disabilities, (7) sexual harassment, and (8) litigation. Seven regional training programs were conducted to provide practical guidance on compliance with the ADA and information about how other criminal justice agencies comply with this civil rights law. Technical assistance consisted of answering numerous telephone inquiries and providing onsite training in partnership with local agencies. Copies of RIA reports, other reports, and correspondence
