This guide was developed for use by law enforcement to aid in crime scene investigations.
This guide, originally developed by the Technical Group on Crime Scene Investigation in 2000 recently updated, is intended for use by law enforcement to aid in crime scene investigations. The revisions to the guide were done by the National Forensic Science Technology Center. The document contains detailed procedural guides for the complete range of crime scene investigation tasks, from securing the scene to submitting the evidence. The information in the guide is divided into five main sections: 1) Arriving at the Scene: Initial Response/Prioritization of Efforts; 2) Preliminary Documentation and Evaluation of the Scene; 3) Processing the Scene; 4) Completing and Recording the Crime Scene Investigation; and 5) Crime Scene Equipment.
