Following a description of application procedures and requirements of award recipients for National Institute of Justice (NIJ) research grants, 1990 research program plan announcements are presented under the various NIJ components.

Abstract

Research plan announcements under the Office of Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Research pertain to apprehension, prosecution, and adjudication of criminal offenders; drug testing in community corrections; public safety and security; punishment and control of offenders; crime victims; and white collar and organized crime. Research under the Center for Crime Control Research addresses criminal careers and the control of crime; drugs, alcohol, and crime; ethnographies of property offenders; forensic sciences and criminal justice technology; offender classification and prediction of criminal behavior; and violence prevention and control. NIJ fellowship programs and a special initiative on drug program evaluation are also explained. Existing NIJ programs are described along with plans for expanding and improving each program for 1990. NIJ organization is charted, and a personnel directory is provided, along with a list of peer reviewers and grant application forms.
