Abstract

This issue includes five primary articles: 1) Data-Driven Policing: How Geographic Analysis Can Reduce Social Harm. This article discusses the use of statistical analysis and geographic software in the effective and efficient deployment of law enforcement resources. 2) Place as the Focal Point: Developing a Theory for the DDACTS Model. This article discusses the use of a place-based theory for the DDACTS (Data-Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety) model. 3) Implementing DDACTS in Baltimore County: Using Geographic Incident Patterns to Deploy Enforcement. This article presents the real-world implementation of the DDACTS by the Baltimore County Police Department. 4) Traffic Safety Initiative Modernizes Resource Deployment in Lafourche Parish. This article discusses the use of the DDACTS program by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office to more effectively deploy law enforcement resources. 5) Integrating Crime and Traffic Crash Data in Nashville. This article examines the use of the DDACTS by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department to improve traffic enforcement in the city. This issue also contains a section on technical tips for using DDACTS and news briefs about the use of DDACTS in other jurisdictions around the country.
