Annotation

Since the D10S1237 short tandem repeat (STR) locus has been characterized previously by length and sequence, but without regard to variation in the flanking region of the entire amplicon, in the current population study (92), two different 3 foot insertion variants were detected in some individuals at GRCh38 chr10:114,360,586-114,360,587, where rs762587747 corresponds to both insertion variants.

Abstract

These variants tend to be associated with alleles with 11-13 repeats. These insertions increase the diversity of the locus. In addition, it is important to identify such insertions to increase concordance between capillary electrophoresis-based and massively parallel sequencing-based allele data.
