This third episode of the 2020 Research and Development Season of the National Institute of Justice's (NIJ's) Just Science podcast series is an interview with Dr. Carl Wolf of the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals, who discusses ways to analyze beverages for cannabinoids.
Dr. Wolf is a leading researcher in the analysis of cannabinoids. During his decades in academia, he has consulted and lectured on toxicology, given expert testimony, worked on multiple NIJ-funded grants, contributed to just over 100 presentations, and peer-reviewed publications. In the current interview, he discusses academia, the analysis of beverages for cannabinoids, and what can be learned from failed testing. The interview focuses on the logistics of testing various types of commercial beverages for the presence and amount of cannabinoids. Issues discussed include sample preparation, sample storage, and equipment used.
