The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Training and Technical Assistance Center (PDMP TTAC) reports 2020 data and 2021 features of the Kansas state Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP).

 

Abstract

The acronym for the Kansas PDMP is K-TRACS. K-TRACS is administered by the Kansas Board of Pharmacy. The email address is provided, along with the URLs of the main K-TRACS website and related websites for registration, queries, data upload, statistics, opioid dashboard, and statute/regulation. Contact information is provided for the Program Manager. For 2020, the state population was 2,940,865, and there were 17,455 DEA-registered prescribers and 727 DEA-registered dispensers. The seven types of agencies that transmit K-TRACS data are listed. The drugs monitored are in Schedules II-IV. The 17 types of reports available from K-TRACS are listed. K-TRACS has 11 statistical capabilities. There are 31 types of users of K-TRACS, representing drug prescribers and dispensers, law enforcement, prosecutors, medical patients, and healthcare professionals. The budget for 2021 is $1,145,652. There are 11 K-TRACS  employees performing administrative, analytical, and “other” tasks. Funding sources are a BJA grant, a CDC grant, and the Regulatory Board Fund. K-TRACS has nine technology capabilities that facilitate data collection, storage, and access, as well as report production. Patient matching can be manual, exact, probabilistic, or probabilistic and manual. Data can be incorporated with interstate data. Interstate data-sharing partners are listed. K-TRACS required policies are listed. Policies related to enrollment and accounts are outlined. Requirements for queries are specified. Unsolicited reports and notifications are issued quarterly by mail and email. Veterinarians are exempted from enrollment as data requesters and are not permitted to query.
