The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Training and Technical Assistance Center (PDMP TTAC) reports 2020 data and 2021 features of the Maine state Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP).




The acronym for the Maine PDMP is ME PMP, and it is administered by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Substance Abuse. In 2020, the Maine population was 1,363,582, and there were 9,430 DEA-registered prescribers and 314 DEA-registered dispensers. A total of 24 PMP reports and the content of each are listed. Funding sources for PMP are the state general fund and a CDC grant. For 2021, three employees perform operational tasks; three perform technical tasks; and one addresses analytical/epidemiological aspects of PMP functions. PMP enrollment and use are required for both prescribers and dispensers. Veterinarians have access to an animal owner’s prescription history, and they are required by statute/rule/policy to query the PMP before prescribing a controlled substance.
