The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Training and Technical Assistance Center (PDMP TTAC) reports 2020 data and 2021 features of the West Virginia state Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP).

 

Abstract

The acronym of the West Virginia PDMP is WV CSMP. It is administered by the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy. The email address is provided, along with URLs of the main website and a related website for enrollment. Contact information is provided for the Executive Director. In 2020, the state population was 1,795,045 and there were 10,383 DEA-registered prescribers and 552 DEA-registered dispensers. Eighteen types of reports available from the PDMP are listed. Funding for the PDMP comes from licensing fees and a CDC grant. The amount of the 2021 PDMP budget is not reported. The PDMP staff consists of two full-time and one part-time worker performing operational tasks and three full-time workers performing analytical/epidemiological responsibilities. Key dates in the establishment and development of the PDMP are listed, and access information is provided for statutes and rules related to PDMP responsibilities and policies. Eleven PDMP “miscellaneous capabilities and policies” are listed. PDMP data are retained for 5 years. Requirements for veterinarian reporting to and querying of the PDMP are indicated. The PDMP monitors drugs on Schedules II-V and collects data on naloxone/narcan dispensing and non-fatal drug overdoses. Technological capabilities and requestors authorized to receive solicited and unsolicited reports are indicated.
