This report presents projections for adult and juvenile Texas correctional populations for fiscal years 2008-2013 to serve as a basis for biennial funding determinations.
Abstract
Projected adult incarceration populations at the end of each biennium are as follows: 154,648 for 2008-09; 155,149 for 2010-11; and 157,701 for 2012-13. The number in the projected population that exceeds operating capacity is shown for each year. The actual and projected adult parole supervision populations are shown for fiscal years 2003-2013. Actual and projected data for this period are also presented for populations under adult felony and misdemeanor community supervision. Projected juvenile residential populations at the end of each biennium are as follows: 2,589 for 2008-09; 2,960 for 2010-11; and 3,073 for 2012-13. Projected juvenile residential populations that exceed State operated capacity are reported. The juvenile probation supervision population is projected to increase moderately. Actual and projected juvenile probation supervision populations by supervision type are reported for calendar year 2003 and fiscal years 2004-2013.
