This paper examines data from the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) and the FBI's Supplementary Homicide Reports on trends in violent crime by age in the United States.
Abstract

Examines data from the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) and the FBIs Supplementary Homicide Reports on trends in violent crime by age in the United States. Murder and nonfatal violent crimes, as an aggregate, are examined separately. Although violent crime in general declined during 1976-2000, patterns for different age groups sometimes depart from overall trends.
