This document from the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is the second volume of the APEX (Achieving Performance Excellence) Resources Directories.
Abstract
This volume contains additional resources on communications plans, focus groups, and team development for use by correctional organizations, as well as information about NIC's Information Center. The Resource Directories were developed as part of NIC's APEX Initiative, an agency-driven systems approach to organizational assessment, performance improvement, and change management in correctional organizations. The first section of the directory presents an introduction to the APEX Initiative and NIC's Information Center. Chapter 2 of the directory presents resources available through NIC's Information Center and the Corrections Community Web site. Chapter 3 of the directory presents information on the process of developing an APEX communications plan, while chapter 4 presents research on focus groups, the basics of focus groups and how they work, and the steps needed to conduct effective focus groups. Chapter 5 of the directory discusses the importance of team development as a critical step to higher performance in any organization. References
