THE THIRD OF A FOUR-VOLUME SERIES, THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS REPRINTS OF SIXTY-EIGHT PAPERS, REPORTS, AND NOTES DEALING WITH EXPEDITING REVIEW OF FELONY CONVICTIONS, POST-CONVICTION PROCEEDINGS, AND EQUILIZING PUNISHMENT.
Abstract
THE MATERIALS PRESENTED IN THESE FOUR VOLUMES ARE INTENDED FOR DISTRIBUTION TO EACH CONFEREE ATTENDING THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON APPELLATE JUSTICE. THE SPECIFIC ISSUES RAISED IN THE SELECTIONS IN THIS VOLUME INCLUDE SPEEDY COURT DISPOSITIONS AS A GOAL IN THE CRIMINAL PROCESS, TRANSCRIPT PREPARATION, DELAY OF COUNSEL, AND MONITORING APPEALS. THE LAWS GOVERNING POST-CONVICTION PROCEEDINGS ARE REVIEWED, AND PROPOSED SOLUTIONS NOT DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE APPELLATE PROCESS AND RELATING TO THE APPELLATE PROCESS ARE INCLUDED. ALSO PRESENTED ARE MATERIALS ON THE PURPOSES OF SENTENCING REVIEW, ALTERNATIVE FORMS OF EQUALIZING PUNISHMENT, PROCEDURE IN SENTENCING APPEALS, AND THE SCOPE OF SENTENCING REVIEW.
