Abstract
Agency arson reports include the fire and police departments, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the Finance Department, the Human Resources Administration, and the Arson Strike Force Coordinator's Office. Reports cover agency arson preventive and investigative activities for 1984. Arson data for 1967-84, presented in graphic and tabular form, address structural arson, percentage of arson structural fires (occupied/vacant) for 1970-84, and the number of types of arson (structural, motor vehicle, and other). Data on 1984 citywide arson address structural arson by building types, incidents by time of day and police shifts, as well as buildings having multiple arson fires. Boroughwide arson data for 1984 show changes in structural arson from 1980 and 1983, as well as arson by building type and occupancy. Community districts are ranked by the number of structural arsons for 1983 and 1984. Arson fatalities are presented by victim age and sex, month, time of day, fire origin, and building type. Arson arrest data for 1984 encompass arrestee race, birthplace, age, marital status, and sex.
