This final report in two volumes covers the history of pornography, constraints on its regulation due to the 1st amendment, an overview of the market and industry, and the role of organized crime's involvement.
Abstract
The task force explores the question of harm caused by both sexually violent and nonviolent pornographic materials and finds a link with aggressive behavior towards women. Next the report turns to laws regulating pornography and their enforcement, covering such issues as the sufficiency of the existing laws, problems in enforcement, the civil rights approach to pornography, and enforcement of both printed and electronic media. Child pornography is dealt with seperately, as is its regulation and enforcement of laws. The final sections of the report present the recommendations of the task force which target the Department of Justice; Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies; and legislatures. The report also contains materials gathered and analyzed by the commission; a listing of witnessess and persons submitting written statements; and bibliographies, photographs, and suggested readings.
